Avtotor to start production of cars under 2 Chinese brands in 2023
KALININGRAD, Jun 28 (PRIME) – An Avtotor car plant located in Russia’s Kaliningrad Region plans to begin production of cars under two more Chinese brands until the end of 2023 to expand the model range to 20–22 from nine, Chairman of the board of directors Valery Gorbunov told reporters on Wednesday.
“As to the brands, we think that we will add at least two brands to what we have today,” he said.
“As to the model range, we have the 10th model to appear soon for sure. We will also no doubt reach the number of 20 models for production until the end of the year, and we can even have 22 of them” he said.
Gorbunov said that Avtotor plans to produce up to 70,000 cars in the entire 2023, and at least 100,000 cars in 2024.
CEO Yevgeny Petukhov said that the company also intends to manufacture 1,000 electric vehicles (EVs) of Chinese brands in 2023, and to increase the output and the model range of such cars in 2024.
